Beyond the Castle (Chatelherault) volunteering

Would you like to meet new people, enjoy some healthy exercise in the great outdoors and discover the history of #Cadzow Castle? - Our volunteer Historic Environment Team could be just the thing you're looking for.

This CAVLP historic environment legacy project, is for volunteers old and new to continue working in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council, Historic Environment Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage to discover, record and improve our historic environment and ancient woodlands. We will be clearing scrub from the Motte around the late medieval castle in Chatelherault's ancient woodlands, clearing and recording a possible iron age promontory site on the Avon water, and carrying out archaeological investigations at many other sites.  Sessions run from 10.30am - 2.30pm.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing, footwear and gloves that you don’t mind getting muddy! Bring a packed lunch, we will provide a hot drink and biscuits. For more information please contact Chris McGinley, Countryside Ranger Service 07795 453441. chris.mcginley@southlanarkshire.gov.uk
